Our Top 10 Recommendations to Relieve Pain at Home
Strength Training
You may have heard the term “push through the pain,” and that’s basically where this idea comes from. Please don’t misunderstand, we’re not suggesting in ANY way that you overexert or do too much and hurt or injure yourself!! Before you start any kind of exercise program, especially if you have conditions that limit movement, please consult your physician. The idea here is that when you’re in pain you probably are less active, and being less active may result in muscle loss. Losing muscle HURTS. And therefore, doing a little at a time to regain your strength could help you alleviate pain. When you’re weak, your body has to do things to compensate, using muscles not intended for the job. For example, if you hurt your left knee, your right knee might have to do more than its fair share and may actually begin to ache as a result.

Laurie’s story: I have suffered for over 15 years with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia. Fibro is a common syndrome in which a person has long-term, body-wide pain and tenderness in the joints, muscles, tendons, and other soft tissues. It has also been linked to fatigue, sleep problems, headaches, depression, and anxiety. My condition causes me to have a low-to-medium level pain – all over – most of the time. When I am overexerted, I also get a more severe nagging achy pain in my low back that is really uncomfortable. It’s a catch-22 because I “crash and burn,” as I call it, when I do too much. Yet, because I don’t get enough exercise, I’ve lost muscle – and that hurts! I also tried out Rainbow Light Nutritionals Pain-Eze and TheraMend COX-2 Flex. I like that they are 100% natural, gluten-free, sugar-free, lactose-free, dairy-free and wheat-free. They are herbal, contain nothing artificial and are safe for long-term use. I also like that Pain-Eze contains 200 mg of magnesium because that is helpful for my restless legs. I didn’t notice a significant help in either, but I’ve only taken them for a few days. Pain-Eze made me shakier than normal, but I’m not sure if that’s because it’s interacting with my other medication.
Dennis’s story: 20 years ago I hurt my back while surfing in Florida. I had emergency surgery to fix the problem and enjoyed about 5 years with virtually no back pain. My first surgery was such a success, so I wrongly thought that’s how back surgeries went. Years later, when I threw my back out by bending down to pick up a pen (believe it or not!), the doctors said I needed to schedule surgery and I was okay with that. But, my second surgery was a disaster. I knew as soon as I woke up that something was not right. From that moment on, I’ve had to deal with severe, chronic back pain. An MRI shows a big chunk of my spine is missing in my lower back. And it doesn’t stop there! The scar tissue from surgeries has begun to squeeze my spine (known as spinal stenosis) which is a whole new kind of pain and misery. That pain shoots down my right leg and causes numbness in my ankle and foot. And, all that scaring means I’m not a candidate for another surgery to fix it. On top of it all, I have osteoarthritis which is due to aging and wear and tear on my joints, probably at least somewhat cause by trying to compensate for back pain. I’ve been through pain management and physical therapy. I’ve had laser-guided injections in my spine, and I’ve taken some of the strongest medications known to man — in high doses. I’m happy to report that I’ve learned to cope with the pain without drugs, and I’ve learned to respect my limitations. But limitations can result in sedation and that can mean a whole different kind of pain from muscle loss and weight gain. There’s a delicate balance in finding the strength to avoid pain, and not pushing too far that you hurt yourself. I also tried out Rainbow Light Nutritionals Pain-Eze and TheraMend COX-2 Flex. I haven’t noticed a significant improvement with either, but I do think the name of the TheraMend is humorous to say out loud.
Wendy’s story: When I was 15, I went out for track. While running, I noticed that my hips hurt — a lot. I thought it was no big deal since I probably just needed to get into shape. I also noticed that there was a grinding noise in every stride I took. My mom took me to the doctor who explained that I had Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) – a long-term disease caused by inflammation in the joints. It runs in my family, and I had it bad enough that I was told I couldn’t run track. I’ve known other people with RA, and it seems like they have a lot more trouble with it than I do. It certainly does limit some things, but I try to do my thing and make adjustments so it doesn’t hurt. I’ve never taken medication for RA and don’t feel I need to at this point. I’ve done physical therapy for various localized problems such as lower back pain, knee pain, hand, elbow and shoulder pain. It definitely helps to do specific exercises, made especially for people with RA, to help maintain strength. I also tried out Rainbow Light Nutritionals TheraMend COX-2 Flex. I’ve taken Glucosamine for some time, and I’d rank it pretty similar how that works except I haven’t noticed any marked difference or improvement. With Glucosamine, it takes 7-10 days before you’re supposed to see results so it’s possible that is the same for TheraMend.
Heather’s story: After having my little girl 6 years ago, I decided for the most part to go the way of more natural and homeopathic medicines and treatments for myself and my family. Over the years, I have learned so much about treating body ailments naturally, and easing the symptoms of sickness with homeopathic remedies. As a stay-at-home mom, I have my fair share of stress and anxiety. I have suffered from the later for most of my life! So, its exciting to find something that is right for me, that helps calm my nerves and doesn’t require a prescription! The 3 Way Stress Management has been great in helping get me through the day, and to relax at night! This is one I will be coming back to! I have occasional aches and pains, which I treated with Pain Ease. I noticed it took the edge off for headache and leg aches. But, I had lay down to relax for awhile before it really started to kick in. I also gave it a try for easing my period cramps but it did not help them. I have always suffered pretty bad with strong cramps, and body aches during that time of the month. Even when paired with a heating pad, there was no ease of pain. I did not try the PMS Relief.
Trish’s story: I recently had a baby, and am experiencing all the wonderful things that come with that – including pain and the return of PMS. I tend to suffer from bad cramps, especially after having a child, and the PMS Relief supplements toned down my cramps and pain a lot. I have 4 kids and I’m a stay-at-home mother, so I’m constantly stressed and with that comes tension, and tension headaches. They can make it hard to deal with life! The 3-Way Stress Management helps relax and calm you, reducing tension by soothing your nervous system. When taking it, I noticed fewer tension headaches and a bit more energy.
Lynette’s story: I have a newborn and a 5-year old son that I homeschool. I can use all the energy and stress relief I can get! Since using the 3-Way Stress Management, I’ve noticed I have more energy even though I’ve been very sick the last 2 days. My moods also feel better and easier to manage with the lack of sleep that comes with a newborn. I am not sure my husband would agree entirely, but that could just be the difference of man vs woman. 😉
Neletha’s story: I’m a college student, and have a lot of stress trying to carve out time for everything. I try to eat right and exercise, but sometimes even that isn’t quite enough. I feel like I need an extra boost. I love that the supplements from Rainbow Light are 100% natural herbal supplements. I felt a difference after using the stress management supplement, as in less tension and more ease (just from one tablet!) I did fall asleep at night quicker and felt calm throughout the whole night. I felt more comfortable adjusting to my tasks during the day. Yet I would have to take it longer to get the stronger effect I want, so my body can really get use to it. But so far, so good!
